Rhapsody in blue

Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich, partners in art and life. Iratxe is Basque, Igor is Italian with Slavic roots. They met in the Netherlands. She is a dancer with the Nederlands Dans Theater, which she joined after studying at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart and gaining extensive experience in Europe with prestigious companies, dancing creations by William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Wayne McGregor and Crystal Pite. He performed with Krisztina de Châtel and Nanine Linning, among others, after training at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome and CODARTS University in Rotterdam. Since 2013, they have been leading, creating and dancing for Metamorphosis Dance, an artistic project where their experiences find an idyllic synthesis in a rigorous, extremely physical, abstract yet lyrical language, constructed through movement that is always surprising and impeccable. The couple has staged more than 20 choreographies for important companies and institutions such as Lines Youth Ballet in the United States, Le Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Arts Umbrella in Canada, and the Spanish Compañía Nacional de Danza.
