In the concept of FÀTICO SET we imagine a space where we try to give form to choreography of listening, an ideal meeting point between the desire to play music and that of allowing music to make one move.
FÀTICO SET is a concert-performance, a participating of the show FÀTICO, a collective practice in listening related to movement. In this context choreography is the line of conjunction between the musical composition and reception of the music by each member of the audience.
What are our bodies like in a listening situation? In FÀTICO SET the participants are situated around the nucleus of the performance: in the centre an electrical acoustic live-set for two voices.
The concert is articulated in three orations that guide the plot of the choreography in the show. In this set, we find them stripped of their visual aspect, as if there was a transfer from the corporal elements of the performers to those of the participants: the proposed movement is a possible condition for listening. At the start people assume a comfortable, relaxed position and they may gradually adapt their pose and their rhythm to the general proposal otherwise they may stay relaxed the whole time. A slow progression would be preferred, beginning with horizontal breathing which tends towards expansion and feeling roots, towards elevation and extension which brings with it a particular relationhship with balance and gaze. The texts taken from Ladan Osman, Annamaria Ortese, David Thoreau and Adam Zagajewski guide an imaginary journey into the feeling of devotion. This itinerary is guided by a dual voice which is given power and is modified thanks to an electronic device, which makes itself an instrument of the almost physical relationship with and amongst the participants.
Stories told like mantras, folk tales, propitiatory songs for a shower of sound stars, are the articulations of this voice that moves from its bodily and proximate dimension towards ethereal and sidereal frequencies, orations from the future by a not only human chorus.
An (auto) didactic aspiration inspires this experiment: during the creative residencies, the artists will invite groups of people to discover and analyse the range of possibilities that are connected to the pleasure and the analysis of listening, to define their format.
