Roberto Castello is among the choreographers who founded contemporary dance in Italy. In the ear-ly 1980s, he danced at Carolyn Carlson's La Fenice Theatre and Dance in Venice, where he created his first choreographies. In 1984, he was among the founders of Sosta Palmizi. In 1993, he founded AL-DES. Since 1996, he has been curator of various events and exhibitions and, from 2005 to 2015, he taught digital choreography at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Since 2008, with ALDES, he has curated the ‘SPAM! network for contemporary arts’ project in the province of Lucca, hosting re-sidencies, a multidisciplinary programme of performances, workshops, educational activities and mee-tings. In 2021 he published ‘Trattato di economia - Riflessioni semiserie sulla dimensione economica dell'esistenza’, written with Andrea Cosentino and participated in the publication of the volume Nel migliore dei mondi possibili.
