The Spellbound Contemporary Ballet company returns to Teatro Vascello from December 1 to 6, 2026, with The Sleeping Queen, a creation that reworks the universal fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty into a metaphor for contemporary power, questioning how authority can become a prison.
The protagonist is a queen struck not by a supernatural curse but by power itself, which turns from a tool of construction and listening into a poison: it isolates her, numbs her, extinguishing in the sovereign the ability to connect with the people she governs. Will she manage to return to the essence of the human being living behind the mask of sovereignty, or will she remain estranged from her own humanity, trapped in a spiral of self-satisfaction?
