on stage with Billi on 5th of May, Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo
The title of the season is Vertigo. What is vertigo to you?
For me in the term vertigo lives a risky and rebellious flavor. The spirit opposes gravity, yearning for momentum, in faith that an outcome other than the fall, unknown, paranormal, will reveal itself. Vertigo seeks the frenzy of the ‘unknown, aware of the possibility of metaphorical instantaneous death, as an engine to escape a predefined common sense.
What power does dance have to change the imaginary and/or act the world?
Dance has the gift of precipitating us into the body, of returning kingship to sensations, of giving concreteness to the present. It turns our gaze to the infinite internal landscapes by performing symmetries with external reality. It prompts us to wonder how many paths it is still possible to trace in order not to lose proximity and free ourselves from superimposed meanings.
Billi is an investigation of systems of attraction and performer/audience interaction. How is that relationship reflected in the body on stage?
Billi wants to make the body a simulacrum, a window that opens desire to the imagination and the senses, to distant, iridescent and changing landscapes, to present, rough architectures to be caressed. A long adagio in which the flesh, breath, blood and nervous system continue to mingle, showing the eye different alchemical solutions.
