on stage on 2nd and 3rd of March with “2×2” and “Cult us”
1) The title of the season is Vertigine. What is vertigo for you?
Vertigo is a hope for a choreographer. That is, the possibility of creating something vertiginous.
2) What power does dance have to affect the world?
I don’t think dance has the power to change the world. It certainly has the power to act on the world, but it needs time. What dance does is primarily to suggest, in relation to a sensitive audience that gets these suggestions through. Then at that point the world, or rather society and specific territories can change a course.
3) The relationship between music and dance is at the heart of 2X2. How does the body return to a material of memories from the classical tradition, such as Bach’s work, to the stage? How does the performance intend to “Glorify the cult of image and aesthetics before meaning”?
Bach is not a classic tradition to me, but it is eternal and as such can be adapted and restored not only to dance, but to any artistic creation.”To glorify the cult of image and aesthetics even before meaning” is a quote from Baudelaire, borrowed because it is perfectly in tune with my 30 years of research that attempts to overcome a theorethical approach to attribute the image that the body represents, even in its staticity, the purest act of artistic meaning in any creation.
