Come close, close your eyes is a project whose goal is to create a solo in which the physical score is narrated live by the performer, becoming a vocal guide for the audience and passers-by, a participatory practice generating a kind of super-organism that breathes and moves in unison in public space. Come close, close your eyes is the invitation extended to the audience, to those who come knowing they will take part in a participatory practice, and to those who happen to be nearby and feel like joining in without warning.

Anna Basti is a dancer, performer and independent researcher with a background rooted in classical and contemporary dance. Her research is increasingly oriented towards involving non-professionals and building experiential, participatory frameworks, in the belief that knowledge of the body has a revolutionary and transformative power when shared with as wide a range of subjectivities as possible.

The residency is made possible thanks to the mentorship of Giuseppe Comuniello, a blind performer, and Camilla Guarino, a dramaturg, as well as the collaboration with the Department of Planning, Design and Technology of Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome, with research fellow Flavia Dalila D'Amico as point of contact, and three members of the association Al.Di.Qua.Artists, the first in Italy made up of professional artists with disabilities. The residency is complemented by theoretical deep-dives, talks and exchanges with students and audiences, as well as supervision from the Unione Italiana dei Ciechi and the Istituto Sant'Alessio, with the aim of generating awareness and good practices.
